There are many reasons why drum solos are a favorite part of Belly Dancing for me.

What good is it to put in all the hours of practice that we put in if we can't have a special time for ourselves for unconstrained, purely emotional, spontaneous dancing fun and when it is done well it is really kind of a rush. A natural high.

This 58 minute DVD is a behind the scenes look at how Issa and I as a drummer/dancer team approach our roles during a drum solo. I'll tell you how I approach putting combinations together, how I use sharp and soft combinations keep the solo interesting and what I look for from Issa. You'll also hear from Issa as he talks about some of the different rhythms, layers and how he approaches his role as drummer and part of the team.
