![]() If you're a Belly Dance studio owner and you are looking to inject more excitement and enthusiasm into your studio, get your students energized and focused on their dancing, then this may be one of the most important messages you'll ever read. Because I want to show you how our unique approach to workshops can help you bring new life to your studio, get your students more excited about their dancing and make more money for your studio all at the same time. If you own a Belly Dance studio you already know that your students are the most important part of your business. Without students you have no studio, or business. To survive as a studio you must attract, retain and motivate your students. One of the best ways to do this is to augment your existing curriculum by sponsoring workshops. A Word Of Encouragement A Lifetime Of InspirationWhen I first started to learn Belly Dancing, I was traveling around working on ranches in old Mexico and Texas. I would work cattle a couple days a week and spend the rest of the time practicing with my horses, goats and chickens as my audience. I spent enough time with instructional videos to know some were helpful and some were not. Belly Dancing did not come easy for me because of my traveling life style which made some dancers at workshops state that maybe belly dancing wasn’t for me. Well, I’m here to tell you that I proved them wrong! My first breakthrough happened during my first dance debut. Little did I know that it was going to be televised so I was a nervous wreck up until I performed. At the end of the show a group of girls walked up to me and my teacher and asked “me” if I taught classes because they loved my performance. My teacher was shocked and so was I. but that day has stayed with me all these years and back then it changed the way I saw myself as a dancer. This small piece of encouragement made me think about those dancers who were telling me to "Give It Up." Because I didn’t listen to them, my excitement, motivation and determination was elevated to a new level. More importantly those magical words made me realize that I had what it takes to keep moving forwards in spite of setbacks. Traditional Belly Dance WorkshopsThe traditional belly dance workshops require dancers to learn choreography or combinations at Olympic speeds. You could go into the workshop with experience come out looking like you have two left feet. There are some teachers who will have a standard workshop they teach regardless of the needs and interests of the audience. The bottom line is that it is very rare and especially in Belly Dance Workshops to ever find a "One Size Fits All". Not all studios, or students are equal! Your studio may have more beginning, or beginning/intermediate students than intermediate, or advanced students. So does it make sense to have a one size fits all workshop? Our Unique Approach To Belly Dance Workshops
A Belly Dance Workshop You Help DesignWouldn't it be better if you could design a workshop targeted at meeting the specific learning needs of your students? Needs that will make them better dancers? This is exactly how we put together workshops. We invest the time to talk to you and find out about you, your studio and your students? What is the average skill level? What do they seem to need? What do they seem to struggle with? What would get them excited? We then develop a curriculum tailor made to meet these needs. Not only that....... A Belly Dance Workshop As An Extended Learning EventWorkshops should also be more than just a one-time event where a teacher comes to town, teaches class and then leaves. Workshops are an opportunity for you to create an extended learning experience that starts before the workshop begins and continues after the workshop is over. Repetition has always been the key to learning. Regardless if you're learning to ride a bike or Belly Dance, repetition always reinforces learning. So if you're going to sponsor a workshop wouldn't your students better learn new skills and techniques, skills and techniques that make a difference in their dancing if it was more than just a one time event? Confused? Don't be. We've put together a unique workshop learning system using various flavors of online video that gives your students the opportunity to learn before and after the workshop. This is a totally unique system that results in the highest possible retention of learning ( and it's not exactly what you think it is). A Risk Free Belly Dance Workshop Learning And Marketing SystemAs a former studio owner myself I know how much work goes into putting together curriculums, keeping tabs on and helping students, managing the books, and all the other myriad tasks. We want the workshop to be one of the most successful, memorable, rewarding things you can do for you studio, students and your business. What You Need To Do Next Well, if you are thinking about, or are interested in sponsoring a workshop, the one piece of advice that would be most valuable is to start the process early. Workshops are not things that go together overnight. There is an element of thought and planning that goes into a successful workshop. A good rule of thumb is to start the planning process as soon as possible. To help you. we've created a Workshop planning primer that you can use to help you in the planning process. |
